Compromise on Women Priests Divides Episcopal Convention
At the national Episcopal convention in Minneapolis the House of Bishops weighs an amended resolution allowing women priests as a local option. Proponents say it will pass by about a 2 to 1 margin, though critics view it as a concession that favors bishops over women. The measure risks fracturing coalition unity as debates shift to the House of Deputies.
