Airport annexation lingers as Elyria board weighs plan
Elyria officials push for annexing Lorain County Regional Airport while the seven member Airport Authority, meeting at 11 a.m. today, reviews a long inquiry and a two member committee works toward a recommendation. Mayor Grace first proposed the annexation April 17, with no decision likely before next month. Navion Aircraft LCC of Bowling Green seeks to establish headquarters and a manufacturing plant at the airport, potentially creating about 300 jobs, requiring a 40,000 square foot facility and 15,000 to 20,000 square feet of hangar space, and contending with other airports nationally.
