US Airways files for bankruptcy again amid labor disputes
US Airways Group Inc, the seventh largest U.S. airline, filed for Chapter 11 in Alexandria after failing to secure $800 million in annual labor cost concessions. President Bruce Lakefield vowed a low cost, low fare restructuring, as pilots and other unions faced wage and benefit cuts. The filing follows years of cost cuts, previous bankruptcy in 2002, and ongoing government support discussions.
