Drag racing hit run kills 15 year old in Lorain County
In Lorain County near Sprague Road and Jaquay Road, a drag racing car struck 15 year old Michael Joseph Mystic as he walked with Francis Spooner 13. Mystic died at Elyria Memorial Hospital. Deputies seek a late model royal blue car with left front damage.

Elyria Board Moves to Put Two School Levies on Ballot
Elyria board approves a 2 mill capital improvements levy expected to raise about $500 000 annually and an operating levy to be set after state budget approval for the November 2 ballot. The district plans funds for building repairs kindergarten staffing and expanded bus service with the projected 7 to 7.5 mill total prior to state education funding adjustments. Funds would begin after Jan 1 1972 and run for about 10 years with kindergarten backfill costing a substantial portion.

Swartz to Replace Miraben as Elyria Assistant Superintendent
North Ridgeville’s Donald E Swartz was hired by the Elyria Board of Education to serve as Elyria’s assistant superintendent at 18375 dollars annually, filling in while Miraben, on extended sick leave since August, plans retirement.
