Japan Industry Leaders Warn of Cold War Food Crisis
Industrialists estimate Japan’s rice crop this year may reach about 10,000,000 tons versus a normal 19,000,000, due to reduced imports from the United States and Europe. They warn rationing will tighten as high prices persist, highlighting a potential winter shortage and strain on the population. The industry officials, including presidents and directors from major firms, urge government action to prevent a broader economic shock.
