Elyria Schools Team Up to Fight Heroin Epidemic
Elyria Schools released a 15 minute video titled Heroin Your First Time Could Be Your Last aimed at students from fourth through 12th grade. The project involved the Lorain Police Department the Lorain County Sheriff University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center LifeCare Ambulance and the Prosecutor's Office with local producer Marty Yadon and parent Kerri Johnson. The district says the goal is to raise public awareness of the heroin crisis described by first responders as a public health issue.

Remembrance ceremonies mark the 15th anniversary of the 9 11 attacks in several Lorain County communities. Amherst hosts a 11 a m service at American Legion Post 118. Murder suspect to be tried as adult
The 16 year old Darius Ramey faces murder and felonious assault charges to be handled in the adult system after Lorain County Judge Lisa Swenski found probable cause for grand jury consideration. Ramey remains at the county Juvenile Detention Home with a $250000 bond as authorities say he fired a gun during a Reeves Avenue encounter, allegedly to protect a friend, with witnesses placing him at the scene though the gun was not recovered.
