William Golde a 76 year old fruit stand proprietor on Lake Avenue beside St Marys Cemetery was seriously injured at 8 30 am today when his car was struck by a north bound Baltimore and Ohio freight train at Bond street crossing He was taken to Elyria Memorial Hospital where it was reported he had four fractured ribs Police said witnesses Frances Balock and Edward Boynton saw the accident Boynton said he warned Golde as he stood on the north side of Bond street The train whistle was blowing and Golde continued on The car was nearly over the tracks with rear wheels between the rails and rolled down an eight foot embankment but stayed right side up The train was halted a short distance away under engineers A F Kuhn and conductor G Love both of Lorain This report is from the scene continuous on Page 2.
