Oberlin Men Sentenced After Liquor Raids
Javik Topkinson, 22, of Oberlin, got 90 days in county jail for selling liquor without a license. Walter Tippet, 55, of Oberlin, drew 36 days and a $50 fine plus costs after being found guilty by Judge Guy E. Findley. They were caught in a seven raid series by state liquor agents near Oberlin. Intelligence Tests To Be Taken By County Students
Lorain County village and rural schools will again take the Ohio State University intelligence tests this fall after the Lorain County Board of Education approved the purchase. The cost is about the same as last year. Tests will be given to all high school students, papers sent to the university after testing, and a report on student traits sent to teachers. County officials say the tests help teachers tailor instruction and compare this year’s grades with last year’s to gauge progress.
