Emergency landings at LaGuardia and Omaha amid engine and electrical problems
Two engines failed on Northwest Flight 207 shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia, forcing an emergency landing with 81 passengers including sportscaster Howard Cosell. An additional TWA flight in Omaha reported cockpit smoke from a faulty light fixture, while a Frontier Boeing 737 diverted due to a left-side electrical issue. No injuries were reported.
