HGM Realtors, Inc. has acquired Jordan Realty Co. a 23 year old Sheffield Lake firm for an undisclosed sum. Jordan owner Thomas Q. Jordan will join HGM Avon Lake sales staff. Jordan’s history includes Lorain County planning work and Realtor of the Year honors.

Gas rates rise 66 percent for Westlake residents

Elyria man charged with vehicular homicide in motorcycle crash
Elyria man Earl W. Smith, 27, faces vehicular homicide charges after his truck struck a motorcycle driven by Steven P Ritsko, 22, who died 10 days later. Smith, charged previously with a stop sign violation and driving while intoxicated, is set for a pretrial hearing in Elyria Municipal Court on October 19. The crash occurred when Smith allegedly ran a stop sign at Route 303 and Indian Hollow Road on August 18.
