Ida Tassi, 95, was bitten on multiple occasions while mowing, with swelling and hospital concerns avoided after home remedies. OSU Extension advises waiting for cold snaps to kill colonies, or using targeted insecticide placed inside nest entrances. Hoban, a fourth generation exterminator, notes 10 to 15 removals daily, with hazards from stings evident. Lisa Roberson can be reached at 653-6266 or roperson chroniclet.com.
