Ohio State Eyes Balanced Attack Under Bruce
Ohio State coach Earle Bruce says the Buckeyes will emphasize running this year but can pass effectively with four reliable receivers. Senior backs Tim Spencer and Jimmy Gayle played key roles last season as he previews a game plan against Baylor, noting quarterback inexperience and a freshman kicker concern. Cornerback Shaun Gayle is out four to five weeks after a broken wrist, with Doyle Lewis stepping in.

Bulldogs edge Clemson as Walker serves as decoy in 13-7 win
Herschel Walker played mainly as a decoy, gaining 20 yards on 11 carries, but Georgia’s defense forced four interceptions and a blocked punt that produced the Bulldogs’ only touchdown. Clemson’s Homer Jordan scored on a sneak to put the Tigers up early before Georgia rallied to take the lead into halftime and hold on for the victory.
