Study finds inconclusive Laetrile results in cancer patients
The National Cancer Institute report in New England Journal of Medicine reviews 67 patient records to assess Laetrile worth. Six cases showed possible favorable responses but researchers caution factors other than Laetrile could explain them. The FDA says findings add no support for use and testing decisions proceed later.

Rogers notes the school remains sex blind in admissions and that women applicants rose, though overall male numbers still outnumber women in the university environment. Bell weighs action on FBI agents over 1970s break-ins
Attorney General Griffin Bell says legal obstacles hinder deciding whether to discipline more than 50 FBI agents from Squad 47 in New York who conducted unlawful break-ins wiretaps and mail openings while pursuing Weatherman fugitives in the early 1970s. Affected agents had immunity in exchange for testimony that led to indictments of former FBI officials Gray Felt and Miller. Bell has taken one administrative firing in the case, and trial for the ex-bureau leaders is set for October.
