Elder-Beerman agrees to $82 million Bon-Ton merger offer
Elder-Beerman Stores Corp board says it will accept an $82 million offer from Bon-Ton Stores Inc to merge the Dayton based retailer for $7 a share unless Wright Holdings raises its bid by early next week. Wright Holdings, a Goldner Hawn Johnson & Morrison unit, previously agreed to buy Elders for $6 a share and has three business days to improve. Goldner Hawn says it remains committed to acquiring Elder-Beerman and maintaining current management.

Unemployment report ends Wall Street rally on Friday
A weak jobs report halted a seven day Nasdaq rally and five day Dow advance. The Dow fell 84.56 to 9503.34 while Nasdaq dropped 10.73 to 1858.24 and S&P 500 slid 6.58 to 1021.39. Major indices finished the week higher overall on gains from earlier economic data.
