Soviet spy Dr. Robert Soblen again thwarted deportation to the United States after taking a barbiturate en route to London Airport. He became ill, was rushed to Hillingdon Hospital unconscious, and a full inquiry was begun to determine if the drug was an attempt to commit self harm. This marked his second bid to avoid removal, the prior incident occurring on a flight from Israel where he wounded himself to derail the process.
