Bus Crash on New Jersey Turnpike Injures 42
A Greyhound bus bound for Washington rear-ended a slow truck carrying onions on the Turnpike near Bordentown injuring 42. Two critically, passengers rushed to three New Jersey hospitals. 17 admitted. Driver William James Jr. of Conyers, NY, said he stopped to rest under an underpass before the crash occurred at 1:25 am.

36 White Hens Stolen From Mrs Stevens Farm
The sheriff’s department received a report from The Rev Mrs N Stevens of 2018 Graf ton read about 36 white hens and corn and beans missing. Deputy Robert Vinovich investigated and noted the hens were taken from a barn while corn and beans were taken from a nearby field. Mrs Stevens said 27 of her 63 chickens remained and she heard a dog bark around midnight.

Gregory Lee Myers seven-year-old son of Mr and Mrs C Myers of 4148 Ninth Street is reported out of danger after polio treatment in a Lincoln hospital. If his condition improves enough, his parents plan to bring him home the first week. Mrs Myers was en route home to Elyria after visiting her parents when Gregory fell ill in Lincoln.

The 5505 ton Panamanian registered freighter Foundation Star split in two early today 120 miles east of Charleston as a hurricane approached. Seventeen crewmen were rescued from lifeboats and one section of the ship, while a lifeboat with 11 more persons including the master remained missing. At Farnborough England today a new DeHavilland 119 twin jet fighter disintegrated 1000 feet above a 120000-strong crowd. Burglary Reported At Memo's Bar On East Bridge Street
Mathew Zaleski reported a burglary at Memo's Bar 385 East Bridge Street during a half hour when the proprietor was absent. About $300, including $100 in dimes, was stolen after entry by breaking a rear window and opening a night lock from inside. Motorcycle Roll Over Injures Rider on Chestnut Ridge
