Patterson in 17th District GOP race after hospital stay
In Detroit area politics, Alfred L. Patterson, a 25 year old released from the Northville Regional Psychiatric Hospital this week, won the GOP nomination in the 17th District after a primary in which he ran as L Patterson. Party leaders disavowed Nazi sympathizer Gerald Carlson, while facing a tough general election against Rep. William Brodhead in a heavily Democratic district. Patterson plans fundraising and outreach to GOP groups though officials doubt a full campaign.
