Woodville bank robber captured after highway chase
The 1937 Woodville bank robbery culminated near Elyria as Patrolman Clellan Andress seized the kidnapper during a ditch crash on Telegraph Road. Gunman Roy Shauver was captured with Andress and Gibson surviving gunfire, with federal charges ensuing and a national-press, CT editorial praising local police nerve and swift justice.
