James A. Wales born in Clyde Ohio in 1852 became a noted humorist cartoonist. He rose to prominence through the weekly magazine Puck and aided in establishing the similar publication Judge.
Jackie Murphy of Lorain will open a shop at 26 Broadway on September 15 to refill disposable lighters and sell new ones. He developed the method in his basement at 227 Colorado Ave and has copyrighted the process while seeking a patent. He hopes to sell the process to a major lighter maker for 5 million dollars or offer it directly to the public if no buyers emerge. The refilling cost is about 10 cents and takes minutes.
Daniel A. Rounds of 4970 Broadway Ave was found guilty of marijuana possession and four traffic offenses in Elyria Municipal Court. He received a total fine of 315 dollars, a 10 day jail sentence, and a three year suspension of driving rights. Police say he was arrested by Elyria officers.
A Lorain County Common Pleas complaint filed yesterday seeks 37395 dollars in damages after a needle broke from a sewing task and became imbedded in Edna Patton’s foot at Westwood Mobile Homes on Quarry Road Amherst. The incident occurred March 30, 1974, during a fitting session involving John and Alma DePriest and Westwood Mobile Homes.
