Delia viewed as minor by Texans along Gulf Coast
Tropical Storm Delia moved along 300 miles of the Texas and Louisiana coast with residents recalling stronger storms. A Galveston observer called it a good thunderstorm while locals on High Island beaches reported little disruption and continued boating.

Delia storm winds kill two girls in Big Spring
A 110 mph wind from Tropical Storm Delia smashed a mobile home park in Big Spring killing two half sisters and injuring 20 others. The storm spawned indirect deaths including a heart attack in Sabine Pass and a coast traffic crash as rains and tornadoes rolled to the Great Lakes region.

Actress sues Playboy over nude photos from film
Cybill Shepherd filed a $9 million suit in Los Angeles against Playboy Enterprises and publisher Hugh Hefner claiming two semi nude pictures from The Last Picture Show appeared in the November and December 1972 issues without consent. She asserts invasion of property rights and damage to her image as a modest, intelligent young woman. She had only reluctantly agreed to scenes for the film. Shepherd is also known for commercials and magazine covers.
