The Columbus Parks and Recreation Department requests 455000 in the 2008 budget to remove up to 11775 ash trees along city streets as part of a 10 year 6 million plan. An arborist would guide removal and surveys with contractors starting next spring or summer on city property only. The emerald ash borer has spread to 31 of Ohio 88 counties since 2003.

See-Through Highway Panels Benefit Church Site
The Ohio Department of Transportation will pay 5.8 million dollars for a highway wall project using clear acrylic panels. Officials say see-through walls reduce tunnellike feel and keep church visibility for evangelism, despite concerns from St Paul congregation members about being hidden from passing traffic.
