AKRON AP The Echoplex inventor Mike Battle of Goodyear Heights recalls a Florida bar meeting a band using his device. He told them he invented it and was surprised when country star Tommy Overstreet introduced him onstage, crediting him with revolutionizing country and western music. The device let musicians duplicate sounds with a portable unit.

Akron musician Don Dixon sparked the idea in the mid-1950s with a homebuilt effects gadget. Don Battle refined the unit for five years, securing a patent in 1964 and launching Echoplex as a trademark with Market Electronics of Cleveland. Blind park patrons claim discrimination at Screaming Eagle
In Middletown Americana Amusement Park will allow blind riders but four blind protesters say a new policy singles them out. George Coorey, president of the Cincinnati chapter of the American Council of the Blind, calls the disclaimer discriminatory and plans to file a grievance with the Ohio Civil Rights Commission. Park manager Guy Sutton notes warnings are posted for all riders.

Ex Elyria cop joins prosecutor staff as investigator
Lorain County Prosecutor Gregory White announced the hire of ex Elyria police detective Lawrence J. Jezewski as an investigator. Jezewski retired as a lieutenant who led the detective bureau after joining the force in 1955. He studied at Northwestern University the Ohio Police Officer Training Academy and Case Western University. He lives in Elyria with his wife and three children.

Elyria Man Sues Over Root Canal Malpractice
Elyria resident Albert Koviak files a 700000 malpractice suit in Lorain County Common Pleas Court. He alleges Dr Joseph Firak at a Revco drug store dental clinic inadequately completed a November 1980 root canal. The suit also names the Legome Lopate Schwartz DDS Inc partnership and Revco Inc. Damages sought include 50000 against each defendant and 550000 jointly. Judge Joseph Cirigliano assigned.
