Cop killer shooting compared to KKK lynching remarks
George Rundquist of the New York Civil Liberties Union condemned the fatal shooting of Frankie Falco by Manhattan police as self defense by officers amid a hotel standoff. The 15 percent cut proposed by Congress to the 4.5 billion foreign aid fund sought by President Kennedy is smaller than the average reductions since 1948. The Council of State Chambers of Commerce notes the cut would be less than historical averages, with notable past dips from 8.4 to 28.4 percent, while critics urge tighter spending amid reported waste across agencies.

Orientals Reach South America Across Pacific 3000 B.C.
Smithsonian scholars Dr. Betty Meggers and Dr. Clifford Evans report evidence for early trans-Pacific contact from southern Japan to Ecuador possibly as early as 3000 B.C. based on carbon-14 dating of artifacts and a diagnostic stone figurine. The study notes similarities between early Valdivia and Middle Jomon ceramics and argues for pre-Columbian Asiatic presence in Ecuador centuries before Christ.
