Higher Education Cuts Alone Not Sufficient to Fund Schools
Officials warn trimming higher education funding alone falls short. A 10 percent cut of the $2.31 billion 1998-99 budget would free $231 million for K through 12. In 1991-92, a similar effort hit 40 percent of the balance, totaling $272 million affecting state universities and colleges.
