Ex astronaut Ira Irwin keeps Ark search faith at Ararat
Former moon walker James Irwin disclosed no ark evidence after an 11 day Mount Ararat expedition. He said snow and ice may conceal the vessel but remains convinced the ark exists on Turkey’s highest peak and hints at a possible renewed search later this month. He noted the Turkish government allowed the 12 member team access but did not permit helicopter use. He also suspected Soviet monitoring of the expedition. The Turkish Air Force plans an aerial survey of Ararat in late September with Irwin hoping to join.

First private space ship gets OK for blastoff next week
UPI reports the federal government approves the 36-foot Conestoga I rocket launch by Space Services Inc from Matagorda Island for next Wednesday at 10 am CDT. SSI aims to become the first private craft to orbit Earth, while awaiting a State Department export license.

Priest suspended over refusal to forgive prosecutors
In Helena Montana the Rev Joseph Finnegan was suspended by Bishop Eldon Curtiss after he refused to forgive the prosecutors who sought to convict him on allegations of deviate sexual misconduct with youths. Finnegan, cleared of those charges, had filed a federal civil rights suit which was dismissed by Judge Rus sell Smith. Libel suits were filed in state court by two boys homes.
