Six Planes to Compete in Bendix Trophy Race
Los Angeles officials announced six gasoline powered planes will start at dawn from Rosamond Dry Lake for the Bendix Trophy Race with Wilsem Bendix as starter. The 1010 mile cross country course aims for a $10600 purse and a road to Cleveland time record. Notables include Pat Mantz and Edmund Linken with replacements by Herman Salrron and others. A crowd of about 10000 will observe the dawn takeoffs at Rosamond Dry Lake as aviation history unfolds.
