California Fines Beverly Hills Four Cities for Water Violations
Beverly Hills, India, Redlands, and the Coachella Valley Water District were each fined 61000 for missing state water conservation mandates as statewide urban use fell 26.1 percent in September. Labrie sentenced after rejecting plea deals in school sex case
Owen Labrie of Tunbridge Vermont received five years probation on misdemeanor sex assault charges and a felony count for using a computer to lure a 15 year old girl for sex. He had previously faced a year in jail and lifetime sex offender registration. Labrie rejected multiple plea offers that would have reduced his sentence and avoided sex offender registration. The incident occurred May 30 2014 at St Pauls School Concord during a Senior Salute tradition. The victim spoke in court of her despair after Labrie declined to accept deals and testified about the impact.

Floyd Ray Cook, 62, suspected of shooting a Tennessee officer and wounding a Kentucky trooper, was killed in a rural Cumberland County shootout with state police and a federal marshal. The manhunt ended just before Halloween as authorities located him after a tip and a helicopter thermal scan.
