Victor Stewart Jr., 85, former Elyria mayor and longtime public servant, died after pneumonia. He cast an absentee ballot for his son Vic Stewart III as he lay dying, highlighting his lifelong push for voter participation and civic duty. Stewart served as mayor, council member, party chair, and 35 years on the Lorain County Board of Elections. He raised six daughters and four sons and valued an informed electorate.
