Amber Alert system expansion eyed by Ohio officials
Attorney General Betty Montgomery said once the state system is running law enforcement will decide if alerts go regional or statewide. A 25 member task force reports to Taft this week on a plan including radio and TV broadcasts and roadside signs. The Northern Ohio Amber Alert aided a Maple Heights missing girl recovery on Oct 23, with officers praising the system's rapid, step by step coordination as the suspect moved. Ohio already has regional Amber Alerts in Cincinnati, Columbus and Tuscarawas County.
