Four seek Midview School Board seats in election race
Four candidates run for three openings on the Midview Board of Education. Incumbents vie for seats as Andrew Fedak, a first time candidate, opposes the 3.4 mill levy funding a $475000 swimming pool at Midview Junior High. Fedak cites recreation versus education and concerns about college prep courses. He, 44, lives in Grafton Township and is a Warnerswasev supervisor with six children. Edward A. Seabold Jr. has served three months on the board after being appointed to fill an expired term. He says he opposes the levy.

Seabold, 41, of Grafton seeks election on a platform of parent involvement and prudent funding for a new pool, school facilities, and enhanced programs while yielding to voters on the pool question. Schubert, 38, Elyria engineer and GOP member, emphasizes upgrading education quality with no specific plans. Flickinger, incumbent from Belden, highlights youth focus and district improvements with long district service.
Grafton ballot lists vacancies for key town offices
Grafton voters will elect a mayor five councilmen and a clerk treasurer in November but only three council candidates will appear on the ballot. Incumbent Richard Smith seeks reelection as an Independent and favors a community pool funded by a local income tax. He notes town hall and fire engine promises were kept and urges the pool project. Smith is sales manager for Elderread Co. of Elyria and lives at 1113 Willow St with his wife and six of seven children. He has lived in Grafton since 1942 and is a Veterans of Foreign Wars member.
