Saxbe Considered for Attorney General by Nixon
Washington reports President Nixon weighs naming Sen. William Saxbe of Ohio as attorney general to restore DOJ morale after resignations and firings. Saxbe, who won’t seek re-election in 1974, discussed the job with White House aides though his confirmation could face hurdles. If chosen, Gov. Gilligan would appoint a Democrat to finish Saxbe's Senate term.
