Weekend spate of county accidents involving deputies and motorists
Multiple collisions kept local police and the sheriff s department busy over the weekend. Deputies Edward Gawlik and El mer Schneider reported their patrol car was struck while investigating an earlier crash on West River road. Two passengers in the other car, Junior Rogers and Clyde Samples, were treated for facial lacerations. Deputy Schneider also faced a second crash on East Bridge Street when Ralph Moore s brakes failed. A two year old, Donna DeFazio, was hit near her home but received only minor injuries. Louis Schmidt was blamed for an East River road crash that involved a fire hydrant after his car veered into a ditch. Continued on Page 2.

Fall Through Hay Chute Fatal To Boy
Gerald Hahn nine son of Theodore and Mrs Hahn of Collins died at Norwalk Memorial Hospital after falling through a barn hay chute on his parents farm. He struck his head on the concrete floor and died about thirteen minutes after arriving at the hospital. Surviving are his brothers Dale Gilbert and Gordon and maternal grandfather Edwin Niles of Oklahoma City. Burial will be in Hariland Cemetery after services at Collins Methodist Church conducted by Dr Einar Rohn Echolt.
