Voters entering polling booths on November 7 will see six ballots listing 146 names including local candidates and one national plus four state issues. The largest ballot covers repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment with 104 names, split for and against.
Ohio forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with warmer temperatures in the extreme west tonight. Sunday brings occasional rain and rising temperatures across the state.
Deputy sheriffs Gerald Nat and Paul Chapman hunted two women described as gypsies in Pittsfield Township and surrounding areas for robbing Harold Norton of Pitts Road. Norton said the strangers asked for food and spoke separately with the couple. About an hour later he found $50 missing from his pocketbook. The incident was reported to authorities this morning.
Soviet Foreign Minister Litvinoff told reporters in Berlin that talks with President Roosevelt could be settled quickly, possibly in half an hour, though negotiations might last a week. He showed optimism about resuming diplomatic relations and his travel plans remain undecided.
Martin Zadorozny of Lorain is accused of reckless driving after a 5 a.m. crash on Gulf Road. Police found a pint bottle of liquor in his possession as his car hit a mailbox and then a milk truck driven by Orin Durkee, sending the milk truck into a ditch and spilling milk. He is to be tried Monday.
Akron Ohio October 28 the Graf Zeppelin rose into the morning sky for its return to Europe after a circumnavigation. Dr Hugo Eckener commander remained at the controls as the dirigible charted a route via Seville Spain to Friedrichshafen Germany. The craft would circle Washington then head seaward on a northern oceanic path. Eckener anticipated reaching Seville Monday afternoon and his German base Tuesday in what marked the east leg of a triangular flight to the Americas.
L. C. Colson of 112 Homer Street was appointed to the NRA compliance board succeeding resigning I. W. Weir. Colson, recommended by city labor groups, met with the board to review codes and improve employee understanding by posting adopted codes in visible spots. The board praised cooperative spirit and noted all local complaints have been amicably settled without Washington intervention.
Attorney Walter Watts spoke on old age pensions at the Elyria Lawyers Club noon meeting at Newell Hotel. He has studied the issue as voters face the November 7 election. A general discussion followed his address.
County commissioners authorized County Surveyor Warden to repair multiple roads including Columbus West River road Columbia Station roads Baumhart road Brownhelm township Avon Belden road in Eaton Ridgeville and Avon townships. Two Elyria youths Harry Reynolds and William Gutensohn, both 18, were found inside the American Legion Home on Ohio Street after a midnight raid. Police recovered gloves, a screw driver, bolt cutters and a flashlight. they admitted being in the building on September 3 when slot machines and other devices were pried open and about 44 dollars stolen. They were to be arraigned before Mayor Van Osier.
Police called to disperse a gang of boys causing a disturbance on Middle Avenue near Seventh Street last night. Mrs A H Krapp of 23 Middle Avenue reported a window broken by the boys. Two boys were taken to headquarters and ordered to bring in the rest Monday.

Recovery chief Hugh Johnson and Agriculture Secretary Wallace defend the economy, while Reserve Board members cite data showing a decline. The Waterville State Savings Bank at Waterville was robbed of 500 dollars at 10 70 A.M. today by a man and a woman who escaped to the west in a sedan. Two men from a nearby filling station fired shotguns at the fleeing car but the couple did not return fire. Loss amount not immediately available.
Madison reports violent clashes as the National farm strike enters its second week. Gundar Felland of Burke is shot dead while attempting to stop a truck. Seven injured statewide, with 20 arrests as sheriffs try to halt spread of blockades and road disruptions.
London reports that Noel D Panter Daily Telegraph Munich correspondent faces possible death penalty on espionage charges after reporting a storm troop parade. British officials led by Sir Eric Phipps and Sir John Simon protested the arrest and demanded proof and legal protection for Panter. Hoesch hurried to Berlin after the foreign office protest. Newark Ohio ceremony dedicates ten acre land east of city gifted by trustees of Dewan Arboretum with 7,000 trees funded by Beaman Dawes.
