Defensive plan for Four Spades by East and declarer play
In four spades, at trick one duck the deuce of hearts to signal partner to lead clubs. If West’s seven is fourth best, playing the deuce defeats the idea of a quick ruin. As declarer, win the jack of hearts with the king and play a low spade toward dummy’s ten five to guard against a four trump breakthrough and avoid letting North or South cash extra trump tricks.

New London School Levy Called a Band Aid by Leader
New London superintendent Howard Dulmage blasted the 1.9 mill levy as only a temporary fix for the district with funds slated for repairs and equipment life of five years or more. The plan would raise about $47,000 annually for three years, targeting roof sealing and drainage work, brick treatment, and a gate across the courtyard to curb vandalism while noting winter delays and priorities.
