Three Books Reviewed For Members Of Employed Young Women's League
Mrs Leta Heath Neff reviewed three current books for the Employed Young Women's League and visitors. Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck drew mixed notes as a depressing tale of dispossessed harvesters seeking work in California ending in hardship. Black Narcissus follows nuns whose palace becomes a site of tension and awakening, ending with greater humanity. Emmanuel on Magnolia Street follows a kindly English Jew aiding German Jewish refugee boys, suffering injustices but ending with some relief.
