Elyria officials held a town hall at Elyria High School to explain 14 months of tax revenue use from Issue 6. They cited road fixes parks upgrades equipment and building improvements while promising ongoing accountability and resident updates to gain public support.
Elyria officials at a town hall touted Issue 6 allocating about 500000 dollars yearly for economic development. Mayor Holly Brinda described the levy as a pool to back projects and partner with developers and business owners to advance city plans.
Arden Wiley 70, a retired veterinarian from York Township, died when his 2011 Chevrolet Silverado went off Route 83 north of Route 303 in Grafton Township. He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected after the vehicle crossed a field and hit trees. The crash remains under investigation with multiple agencies on scene.
Historian Al Leiby uncovered two officers overlooked in local and state memorials. Frank Stone of Oberlin died after a gunfire chase in 1881. Detective Jack Laicy of the Nickel Plate Railroad Police died after a 1923 Lorain shootout. Leiby seeks memorial inclusion and notes prior omissions and related cases.
