C T women win journalist awards at Toledo convention

Chronicle Telegram staff members Nancy Schwarzwalder Embree Hoffman Janice Arthrell and Marge Cotter won multiple awards in the 1970 Ohio Newspapers Women’s Journalism contest at the Toledo convention. Bomb damages building at Kent State University

Rt 113 crash kills two Lorain County residents

A head on collision on Route 113 two miles west of Florence claimed the lives of John R. King 28 of Market Street Birmingham and Helen Irene Smith 59 of Oberlin RD 2 Gifford Road, Oberlin. King drove a car that crossed center line and struck a westbound pickup truck carrying Smith and her husband. Both vehicles were demolished and King died at the scene. Smith and her husband were en route to fetch stone for a septic system project. Smith was hospitalized with cuts and bruises.
