Fall reflections and a New York diary note

Charles B. Driscoll writes of a melancholy mood while driving through New York and along the Hudson as leaves fall. He shares reader letters from New England about storm-damaged trees, parodies from Newsdam, a tobacco tip for windshield clarity, a talk promised for Pembroke College, and a vivid anecdote about a 93 year old neighbor who died after a mule kick. He also mentions Joe & Rosa restaurant on Third Avenue near 46th Street where Joe Resteghini has died and Rosa runs the place with son Fred, born at 44th Street and Second Avenue.
