Stem cell infusions show promise for frail elderly health
University of Miami researchers report early phase trials indicating a single stem cell infusion from young donors improved lung function and walking distance in frail elderly patients. In phase one the infusion was safe. in phase two treated patients walked farther and breathed easier, with effects lasting months. The team plans a larger phase three trial with FDA collaboration and targets measurable goals such as six minute walk distance.
