Court blocks Avon lawyer from ballot bid
A three judge panel of the Sixth Circuit upheld Judge Solomon Oliver Jr ruling that Avon attorney Gerald Phillips cannot appear on the November ballot as an independent candidate for Lorain County Common Pleas Judge. Phillips had submitted 138 signatures short of the 778 required and violated a rule prohibiting independent candidates from partisan activity when voting in the GOP primary.
