Soviet claims U S generals held after frontier violation

Soviet radio reports a U S Air Force Beechcraft carrying Maj Gen Edward C D Pony Scherrer and Brig Gen Claude Monroe McQuarrie Jr along with Major Russell and Col Deneli violated the Soviet frontier and landed in Leninakan Armenia. Vermilion Youth Dies From Crash Injuries

A 16 year old Vermilion boy Raymond Mihalick died at 11 08 am in St Joseph Hospital from multiple fractures and head injuries after his 1965 convertible left West End Avenue and struck a utility pole near the West 21st Street overpass. Police cited 160 feet of skid marks and a pole entangled car. Mihalick was a Firelands High School student and the crash remains under investigation.

1800 Guerrillas Cross Into Jordan Near Moghayer

About 1,800 Palestinian guerrillas crossed from Syria into northern Jordan near Moghayer and took up positions near the frontier village. Jordanian Brig. Atta Gasib said the force, backed by 14 tanks from the Palestine Liberation Army, moved toward Torra. The fighters, from the Saika group, fled Damascus after Hafez al Assad's government crackdown.
