Ohio mound land becomes permanent archaeological preserve
A 15 acre Ohio parcel bought after World War II by Tom Montes as a family retreat was recognized as an ancient mound site. State officials and the Ohio Historical Society confirmed earthwork remains from Adena or Hopewell cultures. Montes founded Montes Mound Preserve to fund preservation, with over 350000 dollars in the nonprofit, aiming to create an educational site for children.
