Cold winds threaten finish of Elyria downtown project
City officials say most concrete work on Broad Street is done and paving may proceed, but cold weather could delay curb and sidewalk repairs on Second Street and Middle and East avenues until spring. Mayor Keys notes crews aim to finish major concrete by year end with open lanes, while some small portions like Merchants Alley may wait until spring. Funds for the 2.8 million Downtown Improvement Project come from loans, donations, and block grants, not the general fund.
