The Washington Post reports the American Bar Association Judiciary Committee voted 11 to 1 against Mildred Lillie and 7 to 5 against Herschel Friday as unqualified for the Supreme Court vacancies. Reward shares go to two locals in triple slaying case

San Jose California. A park maintenance worker and a library clerk share a 25000 reward for tips leading to the arrest of Karl Francis Werner the 13 year old who pleaded guilty to three knife slayings and received life imprisonment. The two volunteers supplied leads after recognizing Werner in the park and a park encounter with Judy Wroblewski.

Nixon to announce Supreme Court picks tonight

President Nixon will name two nominees to the Supreme Court and announce them via live TV and radio at 7 30 p m EDT. The White House acted soon after reports that the American Bar Association committee on the federal judiciary withheld its endorsement from two frontrunners.

Elyria Students Help Charge Black River Polluter

Four Lorain County Community College students provided conclusive evidence leading to a federal charge against Obitts Chemical Co of Elyria for discharging acids and suspended solids into the east branch of the Black River. The firm denies handling acids, and faces possible fines up to 2,500 per violation. The case marks the first time private citizens supplied all evidence in a pollution suit in this district.

United Fund hits 36 percent of goal in Lorain drive
