Amgen study links engineered GDF15 to weight loss in mice

Amgen researchers engineered the GDF15 protein to resist breakdown and run longer in blood. In obese mice, the bioengineered GDF15 reduced weight by about 20 percent over 35 days, cut insulin and cholesterol levels, and shifted food preference away from high fat foods, mirroring some bariatric surgery benefits.
