Guardsmen Guard Swift Packing Plant During Strike
SIOUX CITY Ta Oct 20 National Guardsmen protected the Swift and Packing Companies plant area under Gov. Kraschel orders. Troops cleared strikers and sympathizers from surrounding streets as workers began a limited return to operations. About 200 engineers reported to the plant with roughly 100 living in the facility since the strike began. The company aims to resume full operations as rioting by pickets prompted the guard action.
