Man Burned at Pahl Home in Basement Gas Explosion
F W Pahl of 241 Oxford Court suffered severe burns to the arms chest and face after a gasoline explosion in the basement of the Pahl home Sunday noon. Firefighters from stations 1 and 2 contained the blaze as flames spread toward the upper house. Pahl, who was cleaning clothing in a gasoline tub, is reported resting comfortably in Memorial Hospital with good condition. An earlier gasoline ignition at Roehl station on East Broad and East Bridge caused a small fire, smothered by cinders before arrival. A separate rescue effort freed a trapped blind horse after it jumped into a trench along Washington Avenue. it climbed out as firefighters arrived. The horse belongs to Frank Koser of Gulf Road.
