Avon Lake edges North Ridgeville 12 10 in a tight game with key plays from Avon Lake drives and defense. Clearview Black River Wellington scores and standings highlighted the matchup as a competitive high school event.

The Chronicle Telegram reports a fatal head-on collision between a car and a semitractor-trailer on Route 20 near Pittsfield Township Oberlin. The State Highway Patrol investigates. route 20 remained closed over three hours. The deceased is unnamed. the semi driver uninjured. Responding agencies included Wellington Fire District, Lorain County coroner, Central Lorain County Ambulance District, and Oberlin Fire Department.
Lorain County Prosecutor J D Tomlinson ruled the death of Derrick Smith in a warrant service by the U S Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force was not excessive force. The 34 year old, diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, barricaded himself in his grandmother’s West 21st Street home and assaulted officers with a wooden table leg before deputies fired.
Kenneth Roth 61 of Olmsted Township died Aug 20 from injuries after a May 20 crash on Lorain Road near Island Road in North Ridgeville. Police report states no charges filed and case closed. Roth survived by wife and four sons per obituary.
Avon Lake police and Lorain County officials investigate the Thursday death of Edward Bill, 51, after an altercation with a neighbor on Beck Road. Coroner Dr. Frank Miller confirmed the name and age. no charges filed as the probe continues. Bill confronted a neighbor over a property line, shoved a trash can, and allegedly was shoved back before collapsing. Paramedics revived him briefly before he died at the Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital.
