Amherst considers ban on sex offenders during Halloween

Amherst City Councilman Phil Van Treuren pushes a resolution to bar registered sex offenders from trick or treating. The measure, seeking emergency passage, would mirror Orwell Ohio's ordinance and keep offenders away from exterior residential, decorative Halloween activities.

Lorain African American Hall Inducts Nine Members

The Lorain County African American Hall of Fame welcomed nine new members at the third annual Jazz Chocolate Fest. Inductees include Jean Wrice Rhoda Lee Dr Fleming Mosley Wilbert Ray Noble Judge John Howard Forrest Bullocks Margaret Christian Constance Ponder and Phyllis Yarber Hogan. Timothy Jones of Vision and Views Media praised the awardees for lifelong community advancement. Wrice led civil rights work in Lorain and leads the Lorain NAACP. Lee, education chair of Lorain NAACP, has Civil Rights testim ony before Congress and advocates youth engagement through education and community college pathways.
