Explosion kills five at National Powder Co plant Eldren
An explosion at about 8 50 AM in a stone mixing building of the National Powder Co plant at Eldred Pennsylvania killed five workers. The blast shook a wide area and did heavy damage, but the overall plant remained intact. Names reported include John Develin Clair Wise Merle Eldridge Cy Lewis and a man named Davis. Survivors From Two British Ships Rescued by Independence Hall
The Independence Hall rescued 300 survivors from two British ships the City of Mandalay and the Yorkshire and was taking them to Bordeaux.
